Summer Wedding at Selsdon Park

Wedding of Gaia and Richard at Selsdon Park – Surrey

by Ines ‘vidchick’ Telling

With the summer season well under way, this weekend saw VIS-à-VIDEO (that’s me!) filming a wedding in our own back yard, so to speak. Saturday we were filming in South Croydon, which is only 30 minutes from the studio in Epsom.

The Bride and Groom held their church ceremony in the Emmanuel Church, which is located on Normanton Road in South Croydon. Gaia and Richard were married by curate Bridget Shepard and while I was doing a low-level shot of Gaia’s big entrance I noticed her leopard-print kitten heels under her vestments – Go Bridget!! 🙂

The church has its own band to play live music in the service, and included a singer, guitars and full drum set, complete with sound booth.

After the church service G & R headed off in a lovely old vintage Bentley to meet their guests, all 300 of them at Selsdon Park!!

  • In 1924 the Victorian country residence was converted into a 24-bedroom hotel which opened in 1925,
  • On 13 March 1997, Principal Hayley Group purchased the Selsdon Park Hotel.
  • Just 13 miles from the centre of the UK’s capital city, this mansion is set in more than 200 acres of parkland and includes an 18-hole golf course, as well as a variety of other outdoor leisure and team-building activities.

The guests were in for a real treat at the reception, there was a chance to visit the cranberry and vodka fountain, I did have a sneak visit to sample the beverage and very nice it was too 🙂 – This website is a link to a local company in Surrey

After the drinks reception everyone headed into the main dining area for a candle lit wedding breakfast, which made it very challenging to film in. For the wedding breakfast, Gaia got changed out of her wedding dress and into an amazingly beautiful purple sari. The colour scheme for the room was all purple, pink and lavender, and as purple is also my Vis-à-Video colour I blended in marvellously – my shirt was almost exactly the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses. On top of that, one of the girls’ names was ‘Ines’ – she’s from Portugal. You couldn’t make it up.

The 300 wedding guests all sat down to a lovely curry, and we were lucky enough to get a chance to sample – it was delicious!

After filming the first dance, we packed up and headed home, and for once it was just a 30 minute drive home.

This Sunday is a day off from filming a wedding, but I am in the studio working. We recently filmed the biennial show for the Phillomena School of Dance, which I have been doing for over ten years now. Since they keep having me back, I must be doing something right… I should be editing this soon and hope to upload a small demo on my YouTube Channel and Website soon. You can keep up to date with the latest news from them at their Facebook page , one of the girls has shot to fame and is appearing in the musical Fame in Dublin.

If you have an upcoming stage show or a musical performance in Surrey or surrounding counties then why not get it professionally filmed by myself at VIS-à-VIDEO. As well as filming weddings, I film and edit music videos, stage and dance shows, pantomime performances plus small businesses including county council training videos.

We can provide between 2 – 3 professional cameramen including myself. All shows are filmed on broadcast-quality high definition cameras and once edited will be provided in individual personalised DVD cases. Why not call today to discuss your upcoming school production…?!
