Being suffering with a lot of knee pains after doing the Slab Common H&H earlier this month. My chiropractic suggested I do the event without loading myself with pain killers, so I could really see how battered and bruised my back and knees really are.
4 of us headed down to Slab Common which is an Army training ground and very very sandy. It was a Hare and Hound so no time pressure to get around and it was to run for 3 hours.
I did 2 laps straight off with Richard and pitted to have a drink and a quick smoke , then head out again. I decided to put on my helmet cam and get some footage of the course. Typically as soon as either someone takes a photo of you or you decided to video the event you spend more time falling off and picking up the bike than riding. After lap 3 I pitted as the bike was stuttering and cutting out. After draining the carb I headed out again but got it all wrong in the really sandy section and got bogged in. No amount of wrestling the bike would free it and in the end I had to ask a quad rider to help dig me out.
By then I was knackered and could feel the knees and back given out , so after 4 laps I retired.
The knees have really given up the ghost and I have a MRI scan tomorrow to see what and how much damaged I have. Ines is off to film a wedding over in Kent today which looks like a lovely venue
